I would like to shed some light on the stigma that surrounds individuals with mental health illnesses.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where it’s ok to be physically ill, but not mentally ill. We live in a world where suppressing our emotions and feelings is called strength, but seeking help from a mental health professional is considered a weakness.

The Stigma of Mental Health

We have been taught that women are vulnerable and men are strong, and to be a man, you should not let anything affect you emotionally. All these things that I just mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg of the many factors that can lead us to feel anxious, depressed, and lose hope.

Psychological disorders are serious and if left untreated it can disrupt your life and hinder your success. Remember, “it is okay not to be okay” Mental illness isn’t something you can or should handle alone–that’s what mental health counselors are here for. DO NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE.
